Hands off Harps, Hoops
With Artur Boruc on the verge of jumping ship for Fiorentina, Celtic have allegedly reaffirmed their interest in Steve Harper - only to be rebuffed. Hardly surprising, really, when you consider that Chris Hughton's planning to allow one of Tim Krul and Fraser Forster to go out on loan.
Of course, it remains to be seen whether our longest-serving player would actually welcome the chance to move north of the border, even if given the opportunity. After so many years of waiting in the wings, he's at last looking forward to a full season as first choice in the Premier League. Celtic have stature, sure, but they're hardly in the best shape - and when Scotland internationals are flocking to join an underachieving Championship club, it hardly suggests a league in the rudest of health...

Not good enough for Celtic
i personaly wouldnt mind if harper came to be the new no1 but i would rather have fraser forster he had a amazing season with norwich and did help the on the promotion and if anyone agrees speek up
Are you speaking as a Celtic fan? Harps is pretty much guaranteed to be first choice at St James' Park - just remains to be seen who'll be his understudy and who'll go on loan. Given the displays he put in for Norwich last season, Forster wouldn't be out of depth in the Championship or SPL.
scottish internationals aren't 'flocking to boro... some were punted out of paradise by that diddy mowbray - robson, mcdonald. others were deadwood - flood, killen, and well the rest were from the gers and aberdeen who'd both sell their granny just for a few quid.
btw dont think we need harper, zaluska a really good young goalie, i'd give him the chance.
yes i am a celtic fan and i was just giving my view on who should be the next no1, i do have other targets i would like to see at celtic. I thought he would great CHEAP addition to the team
this player isnt one i think of coming back but i just want to hear your view on david marshall coming back
@2.55pm (much easier if you just put your name to comments as we politely ask...): Fair point about Killen and Flood (not to mention Lee Miller) - but Robson, McDonald, McManus and Boyd all joining does, I'd argue, constitute Scottish internationals flocking to Boro. Just suggesting that it's a bit worrying if the likes of McDonald and Boyd see Smogside as a step up...
@4.22 pm: No views on David Marshall (not least because this ain't a Celtic site), but I suspect that Boruc might be a big loss. You'd have stood a decent chance of getting Harper when we still had Given, but there's no way we'll go into a Premier League season armed only with two rookies in Krul and Forster. Both the youngsters are shaping up very nicely indeed, but I'm not certain either would quite be ready for your first team on a regular basis (as for ours).
to the person who said fraser foster i would agree a fantastic keeper an amazing season with norwich and is set to leave newcastle but does he fit the bill at celtic hmm. I think we should sign him.
about marshall 50/50 with me if he comes that would be good but not no1
fair point ben
